This policy explains what personal details The White Palace collects through this website and when you stay with us, why we need them, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to answer your enquiry and look after your stay, and we never sell it.

Last updated 23 October.

Who we are

The White Palace is a homestay in Bhuj, Kutch, Gujarat. For this policy we are the “data fiduciary”: we decide why and how your details are used. You can reach us at:

What we collect

When you send an enquiry or a message: your name, phone number, email (if you give it), the dates, guests and room you ask about, the ages of any children, and anything you write in the message.

When you stay with us: the details on your bill, and a copy of a government photo ID for each adult, which places to stay in India must keep. Foreign guests also give passport and visa details for Form C, as the law requires.

When you browse the site: if analytics is switched on, anonymous information such as the pages you visit and the kind of device you use. It does not identify you.

We do not collect card or bank details on this website. Payment is taken at the homestay.

Why we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry by phone, WhatsApp or email, and confirm your room.
  • To manage your stay: check-in, the bill, payments and any requests.
  • To meet legal duties, such as guest registers, ID records, Form C and tax records.
  • To understand which pages are useful and improve the website (anonymous analytics only).

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent or trade your details. We share them only with:

  • The companies that run our website, email and secure storage, only so they can provide those services to us.
  • Government authorities, when the law requires it (for example, guest and foreign-national records).

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become a stay: up to two years, then deleted.
  • Bills and payment records: as long as Indian tax law requires (currently eight years).
  • ID copies and guest records: only as long as the law requires.

Keeping it safe

The website uses an encrypted (https) connection. Enquiries are stored on a secure server, and only the homestay’s staff can see them, each with their own password and only the access their job needs.

Cookies

The website does not use advertising cookies. If analytics is switched on, it sets anonymous cookies that count visits. The staff area uses a cookie to keep staff signed in, which guests never see.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what details we hold about you and how we use them;
  • correct or complete anything that is wrong;
  • erase your details, unless the law requires us to keep them;
  • name someone to act for you if you are unable to.

Write to us using the details below and we will reply within 30 days.

Children

We collect a child’s age only when a parent or guardian includes it in an enquiry, so we can arrange the right room and beds. Enquiries must be sent by an adult.

Questions and complaints

For any question or complaint about your personal data, contact the owner of The White Palace, who handles these requests:

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
